Inspired by Louis Armstrong

Inspired by Louis Armstrong
(August 4, 1901- July 6, 1971), nicknamed Satchmo or Pops, was a famous African American jazz trumpeter and singer from New Orleans, Louisiana. Some people mark the beginning of the Jazz Age as 1922, when Armstrong brought his golden cornet from New Orleans to Chicago. His brilliant playing and remarkable musical invention forever changed the sound of U.S. music. Renowned for his charismatic stage presence and voice almost as much for his trumpet-playing, Armstrong's influence extends well beyond jazz music. He is one of the first African American entertainers to "cross over", whose skin color was secondary to his music in an America that was severely racially divided. His artistry and personality allowed him to be socially acceptable among the upper echelons of American society.
