Aaron Douglas (May 26, 1898 – February 3, 1979) was an African-American
painter and a major figure in the Harlem Renaissance. He rejected the stereotyped portraits of African-American. During the Harlem Renaissance, his illustrations graced the books of such writers as Langston Hughes and Countee Cullen. Aaron used ideas drawn from African sculptor.
